Cabar.asia Media School and Anisa Sabiri are inviting to participate in a documentary filmmaking workshop (Dushanbe, Tajikistan)

Cabar.asia Media School in cooperation with Anisa Sabiri are announcing enrollment for a documentary filmmaking workshop (for Tajikistan). 

Students learning journalism, beginning and practicing journalists, bloggers and anyone interested in documentary films are encouraged to apply to the offline workshop on the basics of documentary filmmaking. 

Aim of the workshop – to help the participants discover the world of documentaries and develop ideas for their own film. You will gain a basic knowledge of the specifics and the role of the documentary films, as well as learn the basics of pitching. 

Coach: Anisa Sabiri, director and screenwriter, fellow of the British Chevening Programme. Her photography has been published in The Guardian, “Novaya Gazeta”, and “The Pulse”. As a director and screenwriter, she worked on the full-length documentary “Rhythms of Lost Time”. Moreover, she worked on short films “Redemption” and “The Crying of Tanbur”. The latter was screened at 26 film festivals across the world, and received four awards including the Best Director Award at the Women’s International Film Festival (ITWWIFF) in New York. In 2018, Anisa founded the project “My Vision”, an experimental film residency in Dushanbe. In 2021, she graduated with honors from The London Film School, and received the Outstanding Screenwriter Award. Currently she is working in cooperation with a British producer on her full-length film “Rope”.
