Jlab “Design Principles in Photography”

The Institute for War and Peace Reporting in Central Asia is recruiting for a workshop on photography and graphic design.

Journalism students, aspiring and practicing photojournalists and bloggers are invited to participate.

IMPORTANT: The workshop is for those already technically trained and experienced in photography.

Trainer: Farrukh Safarzadeh, graphic designer and illustrator, finalist of international online graphic design tournament “Design Cup”, participant of exhibitions and design contests.

Over 10 years of career experience in advertising, visual brand promotion and design in leading companies in the country (mobile operators, banks, international organizations, etc.), freelancer and instructor of graphic design course.

Since 2020 co-founder of the photo and video project “GRAIN” about people who love their business, who are deprived of traditional media, but who contribute to society and inspire by their example.

Programme of the workshop:

Day 1. A gallop through the fundamentals
Design principles
Composition and focal point
Text and typography
A bit about light and colour
Brand and personal account/project identities
Naming, storytelling, background and other buzzwords.
Practical exercises
Day 2. All that comes in handy in photoshop (practical day)

Interface
Working with layers
Tools
Cropping (cropping images)
Quick retouch
Quick Fix Tips
Colour correction
Word processing
Photo manipulation
Dates and times: 7-8 September, from 15:00-18:00 each day

Location: IWPR Office in Dushanbe

Participation is free but places are limited. Participation in all two days of the workshop is mandatory.
