Description of the course

This course focuses on business process automation. The key goal of the course is to provide basic knowledge and understanding of business automation features. The course will help to learn the basics of automation and introduce you to the most universal process for implementing automated solutions in real projects. Special attention will be paid to analyzing the most common mistakes teams make during implementation as well as receiving a checklist that will help to avoid them.

This course will help:

  • Learn what automation is and what problems it solves
  • Determine when and what to automate for maximum efficiency
  • Set realistic expectations regarding the financial, time, and human resources needed to implement automation
  • Get acquainted with the most popular services for marketing, management, finance, and analytics optimization
  • Understand what parts of the business can never be automated

Course audience

The course is intended for aspiring entrepreneurs, owners of small and medium-sized businesses, managers and private practitioners representing services and goods in Central Asia

Course format:

The course consists of three blocks and is designed for 3 weeks of study. The weekly workload of students in the course is 2-3 hours (depending on the complexity of the section and practical tasks). The course consists of short video lectures with transcripts, demo videos, textual information, handouts, and independent tasks. As part of the course, you will be presented with real-life cases that have been solved by implementing automation. The course contains an 80% final test. You have 10 attempts to pass the test. If the limit of attempts is exhausted, the system is blocked and you need to register for the course again. In this regard, we strongly advise participants to re-familiarize themselves with the course materials provided, in case of the first unsuccessful attempts to pass the test tasks. If you wish, you can take the course again four times.


The course was developed as part of the "Go Viral" project of the Institute for War and Peace Reporting in Central Asia in cooperation with IT Academy. The course materials are hosted on the media school platform and will only be available to participants who have registered for the course. All courses created within the framework of the project are the property of IWPR CA and may be used for other projects, at the discretion of IWPR CA.

  • Block 1: What is automation?

    This content is available on Kazakh, Russian, Tajik, and Uzbek languages. In the first block, you will learn what automation is on the example of cases from different areas with different scales, analyze the main list of areas and processes that are most often automated and how to estimate the cost of implementing automation, depending on the scale of work.

  • Block 2: Automation Tools

    This content is available on Kazakh, Russian, Tajik, and Uzbek languages.In the second block, you will learn the primary tools for automating basic processes, analyze the types of platforms for automating various processes, including working with clients, managing a team, finances and workflow. Also, you will analyze the criteria for processes that cannot be automated and learn how to determine them. At the end of each lesson, different cases are offered in the form of test, which will allow you to consolidate your knowledge.

Frequently asked questions

How to register for the course?
First you need to register on the site itself, then select the course that suits you from the “Courses” section and register for the course itself.
Will I receive a certificate after completing the course?
The certificate is received by those who have passed all the lessons within the course and passed the final test successfully (at least 80%).
What if I don’t pass the test?
After each module in the course there is an intermediate test and a general test at the end of the course. You are given 10 attempts to pass the test. If it fails from the first attempts, you can review the lesson and take the test again. After exhausting 10 attempts, the system will be blocked. You will need to register for the course again to complete it.
What to do if the site is down?

What should I do if my name on the certificate is different from the name in the passport?
When registering, initially enter your data correctly. If you have indicated other details, write to us. We will correct and send the certificate with the correct data.
Can I take several courses?
Yes. You can take several courses at once or in sequence.
How often are courses updated?
Courses that already exist are not updated. We add new courses after they are crated.
How to participate in your other events?
We conduct various training events for journalists and journalism students from Central Asian countries. You can track new events on our website or on pages on social networks and take part. Often you need to register or pass a competitive selection.
Can only residents of Central Asia take courses?
Online courses are available to absolutely everyone regardless of place of residence. Offline events take place in one of the CA countries.
I am not from the media sector, but I want to enroll in the course. Is it possible?
Yes, everyone can take online courses.
How long is the course?
The duration of each course is determined individually, depending on the content and complexity of the course. The average duration is from 6 to 8 weeks. During this period, you must complete all the lessons and pass the tests. If you didn’t finish on time, the system will be blocked. But you can overwrite and go through again.
